The 4th Annual Calico Gymnastics Invitational Competition sprung into action this past weekend.

Calico Gymnastics held its Invitational competition on Saturday, Feb. 1st with 7 clubs in attendance consisting of 67 athletes from across Saskatchewan.

"This was the first competition of the season for Calico and for some of our athletes it was their first competition ever. All hands were on deck as it takes many volunteers to put on an event this size. This event would not be possible without the volunteers and the support of our sponsors," said Calico President, Angela Bley.

The competition started out with Levels JO4-JO6 competing. Calico had 2 athletes competing in the morning session. JO6 level athlete Kenzie Pavelich had a very strong showing with 3rd place finishes in the vault, bars, and floor exercise, a 4th place finish on the beam, and a 3rd place medal in the all-around aggregate. Kennedy Bley, a JO4 level athlete, finished 1st overall on the vault and bars, tied for 2nd on beam, placed 4th on floor, and finished 1st all around.

The afternoon sessions saw levels JO1-JO3 competing. JO1 and 2's, Isabella Ward, Tessa Trembley and Sophie Rath combined for a total of 3 Red ribbons, 6 Blue ribbons, and 3 White ribbons.

Calico had three JO3-level athletes competing, and it was a clean sweep with all three athletes standing atop the podium at the end of competitions. Brooklyn Kelly had a 2nd place finish on the floor and beam while finishing 3rd on bars, tied for 3rd on vault, and 3rd all around. Mylie Holcomb was 1st on floor, 2nd on vault, 3rd on beam, 4th on bars, and finished 2nd All Around. Finally, Ryalee Bergerman finished 1st on vault, bars, and beam, while placing 3rd on floor, and finishing 1st All Around.

Congratulations to all the athletes.
