The Ag Knowledge Centre has new statistics that their staff are wanting to get out to farm equipment operators.

Brent Flaten with the Centre said that more and more incidents of contact with power lines are being reported, a major problem that seems to be increasing.

"It is disturbing, during this crop report week they had eight reports of farm equipment coming into contact with power lines and the total so far in 2017, is 166 incidents."

Flaten isn't sure why there seems to be an increase in incidents.

Public Awareness campaigns have been launched but Flaten can only guess that larger equipment could be to blame.

He also said that some farmers are in a big hurry to get their seeding done and they are not properly watching for power lines.
