The Weekly crop report has some positive news for Producers in the East-Central Region.

91% of the crop is in the ground, just below the 94% seeded in the Province as a whole.

The 5 year average for the region for this time of year is 69%.

Emerged crops are also in excellent condition, but some crops have damage from flea beetles, cutworms, and flooding.

In other areas of the province, the Southwest region has 96% seeded, 95% in the West Central, 94% is done in the Northeast, and 93% in the Southwest. 

A year ago, crops were 97% seeded, and heavy frost damaged crops in some areas of the province.

Hay land and topsoil moisture has an 88% adequate rating.

There is also a 3% rating for surplus, 7% short and 2% very short.

Rainfall was spread out throughout the area as well, seeing anywhere from 1 millimetre to 46 millimetres of rain.
