Saskatchewan farmers saw strong gains in crop receipts for the first quarter of 2016.

Stats Canada reports show Saskatchewan’s numbers jumped 18.6% over the same period last year, mainly due to the strong demand for pulse crops.

According to the report Lentils contributed the most to the gain in crop receipts.

While we had the strongest increase in crop receipts, Saskatchewan producers also reported the largest decline in Livestock receipts for the first quarter, down 21.6% or $140 million dollars.
