Information from the Farm Financial Survey for 2015 is now available.

Data for the Stats Canada survey was gathered and analyzed in 2016.

According to the survey the average net worth per farm increased in each province in Canada, in Saskatchewan average farm assets increased almost 25% from the 2013 report.

Erin Kumar an Analyst with the Farm Financial Survey in the Agriculture Division of Statistic's Canada fills us in on the Saskatchewan statistics.

"Land and buildings represent the largest share of those long term assets, for short term assets the largest share is made up of crop sales. We also know that average debt in Saskatchewan increased just under nine percent from 2013 and the larger increase in average farm assets compared to the increase in average debt contributed to the overall increase in the average net worth we are seeing."

Saskatchewan's average net worth increased to $2.5 million in 2015.

Stats Canada released the numbers after analyzing the data collected from about 10,000 farms reporting an agricultural income of over $25,000.
