Canada’s Farm Progress Show opened to the public Wednesday and is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors.

The show is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart says Saskatchewan’s agricultural manufacturing sector is strong:

"It's a huge opportunity for the province, for those who farm, to become acquainted and familiar with the latest in technology. I know Saskatchewan farmers are always early adopters of technology, so they're always very interested to see what's available," he said.

"It's a great opportunity for those who manufacture and sell equipment and technology in this province and across western Canada. With $500 million worth of sales at this show last year, and with this show being even bigger and better than last year, it's a great economic opportunity."

He notes there is all different kinds of new technology at the show, which will wrap up Friday.
