Good harvest progress was made in the Humboldt area despite some rainfall over the last week.

Eight per cent of the 2016 crop is in the bin, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report. That is up five per cent from the week prior.

Across the province, 18% of the crop has been combined with an additional 32% swathed or ready to straight-cut. That is 1% of the five-year average, but 11% behind last year's progress.

In the southeast, 34% of the crop is in the bin, which leads the way across the province. Twenty-five per cent is complete in the southwest, 12% in the east-central region, 8% in the west-central and northeastern parts of the province and 5% is done in the northwest.

Humboldt reported 35 millimetres of rain, with as little as no rain falling in the area, up to 57 mm.

Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as 25% surplus, 72% adequate and 3% short. Hayland and pasture is 19% surplus, 73% adequate and 8% short.

Reports estimate that 8% of forage acres will not be harvested due to the wet haying season.

Crop damage is attributed to flooding, lodging and diseases, including sclerotinia and fusarium head blight.
