Canada’s Farm Progress show is the ideal site linking agricultural exporters and importers from around the world.

This year the International Business Centre has 700 qualified visitors from 53 different countries.

Ndoma Agbor is the Executive Director of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Development in Nigeria.

He says they grow root crops like Potatoes and casabas adding they are looking at storage facilities from 50 to 200 tonnes adding they’d like to have silos in each of the communities.

It’s his first time at the show and in his words he has been blown away by the show and products available adding they are already in discussions with Meridian and Intragrain Technologies about storage options and technology that could work in their country:

"In Nigeria, it can be terribly hot. Right now, if you put any grain in storage, you should be able to monitor the temperature and moisture content at the same time," he said. "The technology that I saw yesterday with Intragrain is so incredible. That means I can have the temperature and moisture content on my phone, anywhere in the world."

He says  they have small farms but notes the biggest threat to their crop is the weather as the crops are stored on wooden platforms above ground that are still exposed to the elements.

Agbor noted he was also impressed with the zero-til operations and has been talking with Seed Hawk about the need for smaller machines due to their land topography:

"We saw a technology with zero tillage - that was mind-blowing," he said. "That means you can plant the seed without preparing the land."

Agbor is very impressed with Canada’s Farm Progress Show the equipment and technology available.
