Transportation and the Carbon Tax are two of the key issues on the mind of the New President of the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan.

Todd Lewis says they’ve submitted briefs on the transportation issue and made presentations to the Federal Government on their concerns.

He notes when it comes to the Carbon Tax issue, Agriculture is working towards lowering its carbon footprint noting they need to look at how Agriculture can be part of the carbon solution.

"Part of the pasture and ranchland that we have and part of the cropland is also measureable, and I think we need to be given credit for some of the good work we have done and will continue to do."

Lewis says the transportation and the Carbon Tax files will have major impacts on agriculture for years to come.

"I think it is going to be an interesting and busy winter, so we are looking forward to it," "We are working with other groups and trying to work with other groups in Western Canada, so we do have a bit of a calming message."

Lewis took over the President’s role from Norm Hall, who held the position for five years.
