Over 40 farmers from the Raymore area met Sunday and passed a resolution calling for the establishment of orderly marketing of grain in western Canada.

Kyle Korneychuk, spokesperson for the Canadian Wheat Board Alliance, says this is the second farm meeting calling  for the orderly marketing of prairie wheat and barley.

"This whole issue is, should farmers have any say in how their grain is marketed and to me that is a no-brainer. No one wants to work in an industry where they have no say in the final outcome so I think farmers will work towards this goal."

Andre Dennis a farmer from Brookdale Manitoba told the group the annual audited statements of the  single-desk CWB showed that with the orderly marketing system prairie farmers received over 90% of the port price and now without the single-desk prairie farmers are only receiving between 40-60% of the  port price for their wheat.

Korneychuk says farmers are feeling the loss of orderly marketing in the pocketbooks.

He notes the single desk ensured the efficient movement and reliable delivery of high quality assured grain to customers while guaranteeing farmers received the premiums customers paid.

"People have to recognize the boards been gone four times and without any regulation, there is no industry that has no regulation and the regulation is there to put some fairness into the system. Right now, farmers are not being treated fairly and they will all realize that sooner or later and will come to a solution."

Korneychuk says the group was in Ottawa last week meeting and lobbying federal politicians.
