The recent rain and warm weather have resulted in excellent crop growth across east-central Saskatchewan and the rest of the province.

Saskatchewan Agriculture's weekly crop report shows most crops in the Humboldt region are developing well. Topsoil moisture on cropland in the area is listed at one percent surplus, 88 percent adequate and 11 percent short.

So far 93 percent of the fall cereals, 98 percent of the pulses, 94 percent of the spring cereals and oilseeds are at or ahead of their normal stage of development for this time of year.

Haying is starting to get underway in the region with most producers expecting good hay crops if the weather continues to cooperate.

Crop damage in the region has been attributed to cabbage seedpod weevils in canola and, to a lesser extent, hail.
