A proposed potash mine in southern Saskatchewan has some area landowners worried about what might lie ahead.

Chinese-based Yancoal wants to build a 3.6-billion-dollar potash solution mine near Southey -- about 175 kilometres southeast of Humboldt.

Thera Nordal says she and other landowners don't want to see the mine built in the area, adding the motion and shifting of the ground are a large part of their concern.

Yancoal Canada says the project is still in its early stages but the public comment period ended last week and a decision on whether to proceed will come soon, possibly in July.

If approved, the mine could be operational by late 2020 or early 2021.
