Another big baseball weekend in the SPBL with the East Central AAA 18U Red Sox in action both Saturday and Sunday. It started off with a double header on Saturday against the Saskatoon Giants.

The Saturday morning opener went the Red Sox way with a convincing 10-0 win, thanks in part to a six run sixth inning. Singles by Cam Marshak and Pryor Dyck, an RBI by Dallen Rude, and a walk by Kacen Hyra were all part of that mix. Marek Yeager earned the win on the mound.

The Giants stormed back in game two with a four-run sixth inning of their own to top the Red Sox 7-zip. The Giants took advantage of 11 hits and a strong field showing.

The action continued on Sunday with a double dip against the Regina White Sox. The opener was an all-out pitchers’ duel ending in a 1-0 victory for the Red Sox. Dallen Rude took the win for the Red Sox, striking out four, while the White Sox’ Colten Meger sat down six.

Kacen Hyra batted in the only run of the game with everything tied up in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The rematch went the White Sox’ way with a 7-4 win. Three doubles in the opening inning got the White Sox on the board first. They added a run in the second with a Liam Joorisity single.

Dallen Rude led the Red Sox at the plate with three RBIs going 2 for 4 on the day.

The Red Sox are back on the field in Saskatoon on Wednesday evening for a repeat matchup against the Giants.
