Alana Dorothy Troop (née Cameron)
February 26, 1944 – June 29, 2022

Alana Dorothy Troop (née Cameron), formerly of LeRoy, Saskatchewan passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson, SK. She was 78 years of age. Alana was born on February 26, 1944, to Allan and Dorothy Cameron (née Watts) in The Pas, Manitoba. As her father worked for various companies, her family often had to relocate. They moved to Arcola, SK in 1947, where her sister Carolee was born. Three years later, they moved back to The Pas, and then to Flin Flon, MB in 1953. Returning to The Pas in 1957, Alana finished high school as an honor student, often not having to write the year end exams. In her free time, she enjoyed being a member of the Watts street crew playing baseball in the summer and road hockey in the winter. Some of her early employment included A&W and the Toronto Dominion Bank in The Pas. On March 6, 1965, she married Ray Troop in The Pas, and that same fall they moved to LeRoy and purchased the Edwin Eaton farm where they began a lifelong cattle and grain farming adventure. In 1971, the Eaton house was moved to its current location to be closer to the main cattle operation. Until 2019, Alana lived at the farm until her move to Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy, and then Caleb Village in Humboldt in 2020. Alongside the many tasks on the farm, she worked in Lanigan, SK, at the Royal Bank as well as driving school bus for the LeRoy school. She loved her donkeys, cats, and horses as well as the farm life, working in her massive garden, and running combines, balers, and other machinery. She was an avid storm chaser and loved taking pictures of clouds. Alana was skilled in many crafts, which included knitting, crocheting, painting, and working with leather and macrame projects. She gave classes to the kids in 4H kids, and made several dresses for her daughters, including Elissa’s high school graduation dress. Always an active lady, Alana loved sports and curled in the winter. Watching hockey was a pastime and she was a dedicated follower of the LeRoy Braves and the Humboldt Broncos. She kept up with the Edmonton Eskimos, but admitted she didn’t like them after the name change. Her family roots were of great interest to Alana and she traced her genealogy back several centuries. Alana will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters Leanne (Ken), and Elissa (Paul), all of Saskatoon, SK; sister Carolee Despins (Claude) of The Pas, MB; niece Cherise of The Pas, MB; nephew Curtis of Calgary, AB; grandnieces Emerald of Calgary, AB, and Carlee (Kyle) of Winnipeg, MB; and grandnephew Mark of The Pas, MB; as well as numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Ray; parents Allan and Dorothy Cameron (née Watts); father and mother in-law Bert and Adelia Troop; as well as many extended family members. Memorial Services are pending. Elissa, Leanne, and family would like to show appreciation to all those who have helped over the years. You are in our hearts.
