Albert Clemence Hoppe
June 27, 1933 – February 9, 2023
With family by his side, Albert Hoppe passed away at the age of 89 years, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Humboldt District Hospital, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Albert Clemence Hoppe was born on June 27, 1933, to Wilhelm (Bill) and Theresa (née Jurgens) Hoppe at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt. He took his schooling at Epsen School Old Fulda. After completing his education, Albert farmed with his Dad and brother Walter and he was forever a farmer at heart. A very generous and community minded man, he was quick to help with any needs in and around the Fulda area. Living close to the church, it was often his task on Holy Saturday nights to have water ready for blessing and to light the Easter fire and as always, Albert was happy to be of service. Offering his time as a school trustee at Epsen and then for the Fulda School, was another example of his generous heart. Married to Alma (née Wempe), on October 15, 1957, he was a devoted father to their four children. They lived on their farm which they originally purchased from Toni Duerr, and he and Alma enjoyed the work and rhythm of farm life for 27 years before retiring to Humboldt. This past October, Albert and Alma were blessed to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary and their lifetime of memories. During retirement Albert assisted with the farm, while his son Gary took over fulltime operations. He was always ready for a chat while on his errands around town. Albert will be lovingly and sadly missed by his wife Alma (née Wempe); his four children and their families: Carolynn (John) Galka, and Trevor, Jennifer (Shawn) Futoransky, Makayla and Colby; Gary (Shelley) Hoppe, and Blair (Kerry), Ben and Jake, Kyla (George) Therres, Kyra and Tyson; Susan (Les) McInnes, Erin, Kelli (Dilan) Pauli, Brianne (Carter) Hrenkiw, and Brooke; and Kevin (Jody) Hoppe, Desirae (Emlyn), Danielle (Sean) Weisbrod, Emmit and Issac, and Dylan. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Theresa (née Jurgens) Hoppe, parents-in-law Henry and Suzie Wempe, great-granddaughter Jayda Hoppe; great-grandson Levi Pauli; and brother-in-law Roman Wempe. The Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Others taking part were, Brianne McInnes and Danielle Weisbrod, scripture readers; Brooke, Kelli and Erin McInnes, intentions; Kyla Therres, and Jennifer Galka, gift bearers; Blair Hoppe, urn bearer; Kevin Hoppe, eulogist; Betty Tieber and Liz Bunko, memorial table attendants.
