It was a weekend of all things Ukrainian in Humboldt. The Humboldt Branch of the Canadian Legion provided a sumptuous Ukrainian meal at their Spring Market on Saturday. Traditional fare of cabbage rolls, perogies, smoked sausage, and a brilliant dessert greeted the shoppers at the market. Local vendors, craftspeople, and food suppliers greeted another outstanding turnout.
Just down the street at the Humboldt Gallery, pysanky artist Carol Oleksyn held a demonstration of the traditional art of Easter Egg painting and dying. Oleksyn began this year’s collection just after Ukrainian Christmas and will keep working on the ornate orbs until Easter. The eggs were on display for sale with all of the proceeds going to Ukrainian relief.
