Another 4x4x48 is in the near future for Humboldt man Jason Holtvogt.

"It's four miles every four hours for forty-eight hours. By running four hours for 48 hours, I am running forty-eight miles or approximately 77 km from 8pm Saturday until the end of the 4pm run Sunday afternoon."

Holtvogt who has completed the challenge previously in 2021, is looking forward to doing it once again to raise awareness and funds for T1D research.

"Last year was the first time I ran more than 5k for any reason. I thought it would be a good fundraiser because of the nature of the run and how diabetes affects us."

The money raised goes to DRIFCan. "The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation Canada (DRIFCan) was established in 2005 to fund the Edmonton Protocol. Dr. Shapiro and his team are located at the Alberta Diabetes Institute at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We believe that donors supporting diabetes research want as much funding to go directly to cure based research. DRIFCan funds clinical and human trials with Dr. Shapiro and his team." - DRIFCan.com

This year the event is starting at the Humboldt Golf Course event center on Friday August 26 with a big kickoff.

This year's event we're lucky enough (to have) DS1A training donate a concert by country music singer Codie Prevost. The Humboldt Golf Club donated the Event Center. We're having supper and a live auction." Lots of items will be up for auction including golf and stay and play passes, a glider swing. tools, detailing. gift baskets and more.

There is also a superhero event on Saturday night at 8pm to give a nod to the caregivers who are the superheroes.

Tickets are available, but they need to have a head count by Sunday so don't delay and get your tickets today.

In closing Jason Holtvogt had one last thing to say when talking about a potential cure.

"We don't need to pass on this genetic heirloom onto our kids."
