The A&W Car Show and Shine is returning to Humboldt on August 18, in support of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research.

MS is a disease that affects the central nervous system, and an estimated 90,000 Canadians live with the disease, stated the MS Society of Canada.

Every Teen Burger sold at A&W on August 18 will have $2 go towards researching MS, explained General Manager Colleen Cornelius.

Throughout the day, people can purchase tickets to a raffle, with all proceeds going to MS research. One prize up for grabs is a Nintendo Switch, along with various other prizes to win, stated Cornelius.

While grabbing a burger, you can venture outside to the parking lot and nearby street where antique cars will be displayed throughout the day.

“The City of Humboldt has been gratuitous enough to allow us the use of the 15th side street there, right next to our restaurant for parking the antique cars.”

There will be a wide variety of cars, said Cornelius, with over 80 participants interested in bringing a vehicle. Fifty-two cars have been registered, with room for more vehicles to enter.

Those looking to enter the car show can contact the store by calling (306)-682-0722.

The car show is not the only form of entertainment taking place throughout the day.

“We have ‘DJ Word Bird’ coming from Cochrane, Alberta. She will be playing from noon till 8 pm. Of course, the 4 - 8 is JJ Voss.”

There will be kids' activities to take part in, such as sidewalk chalk, face painting and much more.

The A&W drive-through will be closed from 4 - 8:00 pm to allow space for the car show and chalk painting.
