Humboldt Collegiate’s Variety Night made a return in a big way on Wednesday night with a talented slate of performers on hand. The Variety Night performers haven’t taken the stage for a couple of years, but their efforts didn’t disappoint.

Vince Agayao and Aiden Behiel masterfully handled the MC duties guiding the audience through music, skits, dance, and a wandering Hispanic janitor that seemed to be questioning his career. The performances ran the gamut from a monologue rant about an alarm clock by Isaiah Zimmerman to a series of self-scripted comedies by the Drama classes. Dance was a key part of the evening with hip hop performances by Tessa Cannon and a dance group composed of Lara Morales, Ivanca Maniti, Geraldine Tagoy, and Sophia Babagonio.

Musical performers included the HCI Choir, a piano solo by Ryan Syroteuk, vocal numbers by Sparrow Tschetter, Jacob Martens-Ruel, and several performances by Hannah Mulhern, solo and in tandem with other artists.

The evening culminated in a trio of rock performances, including HCI alum Darren Sommer teaming up with brother Wesley, the inaugural performance of the HCI Rock Band, and a show stopping single, Trooper’s “Here For A Good Time”, belted out by the HCI Staff Band, complete with an abundance of cowbell.
