The Nipawin Hawks found their footing on home ice last night as they downed the Humboldt Broncos 4-3 in game three of the first round of SJHL playoffs.

Nipawin took a page from the Broncos’ book and struck hard and fast in the first period with a pair of goals. Cage Newans responded for the Broncos late in the first, and in the opening two minutes of the second, Jacob Boucher tied it up. Both goals were on the power play.

Braxton Buchberger and Carson Dobson gave the Hawks a two goal lead once again. A last second effort from Ethan Zielke came too little too late for the Broncos as the Hawks took the W.

That means game five is set for Friday night back at the EPA.

Before that, the show goes on in Nipawin tonight for game 4 with the play by play right here on 107.5 Bolt FM.
