The Humboldt Broncos had things well in hand last night at the EPA wrangling the Estevan Bruins to the ice in a 6-2 win.

Estevan opened the scoring at the 7-minute mark, but the Broncos replied with three straight goals in the opening frame, a pair of unassisted markers by Patrick Lanthier and Matt Van Blaricom, along with a Connor Thue effort and an assist from Marik Mamic.

A hard fought but largely uneventful second period saw back-to-back Bronco goals within thirty seconds as the period closed. A bouncer off Ben Costantino’s stick got over the blocker of Estevan goalie Jackson Miller at the 17:27 mark. Daylan Weigel ended the period with his first of the night with the assist from Travis Bryson.

The game saw few penalties, but a late Bronco hooking penalty afforded Estevan one more goal on the ensuing power play. However, Spencer Bell capped the night off with his 41st of the season before the final buzzer.

Teams are jockeying for positions in the playoff run, none more than the Battlefords North Stars who look to end their skid this weekend in a home and home with the Broncos. Game time away Friday night is 7:30, and then it's back to the EPA on Saturday at 7. Play call is right here on 107.5 Bolt FM.
