The Weyburn Red Wings snatched one back from the Humboldt Broncos last night as the Wings took a 5-3 win on home ice.

Weyburn's Braigh LeGrandeur opened up scoring early in the first, but Cage Newans took advantage of a power play to even it up.

The two teams traded goals through the second and the middle of the third. Wings’ Lucas Schmidt stung the Broncos early in the second only to see Newan answer with his second power play goal of the night. The Broncos went 33 percent on the power player for the evening scoring on 2 of 6.

The Wings closed out the second with a shorthanded marker.

At 13:13 of the third, Ben Costantino, with an assist from Jacob Strizzi, tied the game once again until Jaxson Ruthven tagged the game winner late in the game. An empty netter sealed the deal for the Red Wings with the 5-3 victory.

It's back on the ice in Weyburn tonight for another spirited bout before the Broncos return to home ice on Friday. Game time tonight is 7:00 pm with all the action right here on 107.5 Bolt FM.
