At the regular meeting of City Council, Council proclaimed May 29 - June 3, 2023, as “Type 1 Diabetes Week” in the City of Humboldt. 

“Type 1 Diabetes Week provides an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the challenges faced by those living with Type 1 Diabetes and to highlight the importance of research and education in the fight against this disease,” said Mayor Michael Behiel. 

Council invited all Humboldt citizens to participate in activities and events that will increase awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and support the efforts to find a cure. 

There will be many events hosted by Humboldt & Area Team T1D, such as their annual 4x4x48 Ultramarathon. Stay tuned to 107.5 Bolt FM and DiscoverHumboldt to hear all the events coming up. 

Council approved the recommendation to proclaim May 29th to June 3rd, 2023, as “Type 1 Diabetes Week” in the City of Humboldt. 

Council also passed another proclamation to proclaim the month of June as “Recreation and Parks Month” in the City of Humboldt. 

“The benefits provided by recreation and parks programs and services reduce health care and social service cost, serve to boost the economy, economic renewal and sustainability, enhance property values, attract new business and increase tourism,” stated Mayor Behiel. “Our parks, open space, and trails ensure ecological sustainability, provide space to enjoy nature, help maintain clean air and water and preserve plant and animal wildlife.”
 
Council approved the proclamation and announced that June will be “Recreation and Parks Month”.
