The Visitor Information Centre on Highway 5 in Humboldt, clearly landmarked with the colourful caboose, is set to become a hub of activity as the City of Humboldt’s Marketing and Communications Department is making its new home there.

It’s a logical move, says Marketing and Development Manager for the City of Humboldt Penny Lee.

“This is actually the ideal spot for my department because we are about marketing and communications and the centre of information for visitors to the city as the Visitor Information Centre.”

Both Lee and Communications Coordinator Kelsey Dutka will be housed at the Centre. The move is also a boon to the City’s Leisure Services Department given their connection with the Humboldt Campground and the ever-popular mini-golf. The new location provides a centralized location where the day-to-day operations of city communications and marketing can happen while providing an accessible face-to-face presence for tourists and newcomers to Humboldt.

“We’ll also have all of our Humboldt swag available here including t-shirts to sweatshirts, magnets to keychains – you name it,” Lee says. “Before, nobody knew where to go for that, and now we’ll have all that available here.”

As for campground bookings, visitors will follow the same procedure as last year by booking online at the Leisure Services site. The campground will be open from the May long weekend until October.

Mini-golf hours for the summer will be 10 am to 9 pm throughout the summer.
