Clara Bernhard (née Fleischhacker)
November 7, 1931 - March 9, 2024

Clara passed away peacefully at the age of 92, at Points West Living, Lloydminster Alberta, where she resided since August of 2021. She was born on November 7, 1931, to Martin and Mary (née Schumacher) Fleischhacker on a farm near Fulda, Saskatchewan. This is where she grew up and attended Epson Country School, to which she had to walk or in later years, rode bike two miles to get there. In 1950, the family, except her brother George, moved to Humboldt, SK, and Clara found employment at Gasser’s Drug Store. On October 27, 1954, she married William Bernhard. They made their home on the Bernhard Farm north of Muenster, SK, where they ran a mixed farming operation and raised two children, Regan and Nola. Clara was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker whose life revolved around her family and community. She was a member of the Christian Mother’s Association and volunteered at the Muenster Community Hall for community events. Clara enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Many hours went into freezing and canning fruits and vegetables. She also enjoyed quilting, ceramics, crocheting, wool punch work pillows, and embroidery. Card parties and singing, with her brother Ray accompanying on the guitar, were two of her favorite activities, and a full lunch was always served at midnight including her homemade baking. Over the years she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play hockey, ball, soccer, and dance. In the spring of 1988 Clara and William moved from the farm to Humboldt. They went on many trips to Estevan to see her bother Albert, enroute to Minot, North Dakota for shopping. The couple also enjoyed casino trips to many locations. In 2009, Clara and William moved to Fairway 14 Condo and three years later William passed away. Clara moved into Caleb Village in 2018 and then to Points West Living in Lloydminster in 2021, to be closer to her daughter Nola. Clara will be loving remembered by: son Regan (Colleen) and family: Jeff (Erin) Bernhard, and children: Kaylee, Teagan, and Emery; Deena (Devin) Pilsner, and children: Jaxton and Jaycee; Tanis (Nathan) Gray, and children: Tyson, Avery, and Emma; daughter Nola (Murray) Dagenais, and family: Breanna (Darrell) Grassl, and children: Garrett and Andrew; Cameron (Amber) Dagenais and children: Marley, and twins, Jackson and Charles; brother Albert (Linda) Fleischhacker; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William; parents Martin and Mary; and brothers: Leo (in-infancy), George (Martha), and Raymond (Armella). She will be missed by all of her family, friends, and Points West Staff.
