The Saskatchewan government announced they will be expanding the access to rapid antigen tests for COVID-19. The move will allow the tests to be used by businesses and individuals in the province to screen people who don’t have COVID-19 symptoms.

The changes were made in the Medical Laboratory Licensing Regulations so that a formal agreement between the Saskatchewan Health Authority and those using the tests will no longer be needed.

"Our government is committed to improving access to health care services for people across the province and providing the necessary tools to address the pandemic," Health Minister Paul Merriman said. "This step means that businesses and individuals can easily procure and use these tests, helping asymptomatic people who have COVID-19 receive testing and treatment more quickly.  Ultimately, the best way to protect yourself and those around you is to get vaccinated."

Large, national businesses that operate in Saskatchewan that wish to use the tests will be able to make the request for the tests through the federal government’s online portal, while small and medium businesses in the province can apply for the tests through the SHA.
