The crown has abandoned its appeal of a Watrous high school teacher who was found not guilty of sexual exploitation last year.

Erin Osmond was charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16 year-old boy in 2013.

The 30 year-old had been a substitute teacher when the relationship began with her student. During the woman's Saskatoon trial, the judge determined the two shared a 'goodbye' kiss on her last day of teaching.

Justice Grant Currie's written decision stated that the crown failed to prove the kiss was sexual in nature, and also did not prove that Osmond had been in a position of authority before the relationship became sexual.

The two had sex four times after Osmond was no longer the boys teacher.

The crown will not pursue the appeal filed after the trial in May of 2015.
