Douglas Ronald Schuler, 71 years, of Muenster, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon. Doug was born on May 17, 1952 in Humboldt, to Bernard and Evelyn (nee Skalicky) Schuler. He grew up in Lake Lenore and attended school there. Following school, Doug worked at the Lake Lenore Coop, a job he enjoyed until he moved to Saskatoon. Doug was then employed by Western Stock Yards for a number of years, then moved to help his brother Don on his farm. Doug would later return to Saskatoon to work for Don Wehage & Sons Trucking and Excavating until retirement. Doug later moved to Muenster to live on an acreage with his nephew Kyle. In his younger years, Doug played hockey and baseball. Later in life Doug would still enjoy these sports, as well as many others such as football and curling, although this time he would be cheering on the Riders and Blue Jays from his armchair. Doug also discovered gardening, growing mostly tomatoes, carrots and potatoes. Doug had a green thumb and was very proud of his vegetables. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers, as well as travelling to places such as Reno and Alaska with family members. Doug loved family gatherings. He enjoyed the visiting, storytelling and card playing that took place. He was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Buck” by his nieces and nephews with whom he was close to. Doug was a very caring person and was always ready to lend help in whatever capacity was needed. He cared for his mother so that she could remain in her own home in her last years. As well, caring for a cousin when he was ill, taking him to appointments and supporting all of his other needs. Doug had strong political views and wasn’t scared to share them with others. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his one sister and three brothers and their families: Coreen (Norman) Junk of Annaheim and family, daughter-in-law Kim Junk of Saskatoon, David (Tracy) Junk of Tisdale, Nicole Broten of Humboldt and Steven (Kristin) Junk of Annaheim; Don (Marijane) Schuler of Silver Park and family, Russell (Wendy) Schuler of Delaronde, Lana (Warren) Schuler-Feist of Saskatoon, and Erin Schuler (Vlad) of High Level, AB; Rick Schuler of Saskatoon; and Randy Schuler of St. Gregor and family, Kyle Schuler of Muenster and Joseph Schuler of St. Gregor; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
