Edward Henry Nordick
July 15, 1928 – May 11, 2022

Ed Nordick was the eldest child born to Henry and Mary Nordick on the family homestead near Englefeld, Saskatchewan on July 15, 1928. His family is sad to announce that he passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in Watson, Saskatchewan at the age of 93 years. Ed was predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary Nordick as well as eight of his siblings: Sonny, Maria, Ila, Annette, Dennis, Dwaine, Hilda, and Elsie. He will be missed by his surviving siblings: Agnes Jacobs of Watson, SK, Ron (Karen) Nordick of Englefeld, SK, and Henrietta Murray of Englefeld, SK, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed farmed for the majority of his life, well over 50 years, but that was not his whole life. Those around you probably have his photographs of his friends’ and families’ weddings. Ed had a love of sports, specifically baseball and hockey, both of which he coached. Hockey was what most of us will remember as Ed’s passion. He could be seen all over the province, in the stands with his black cowboy hat, cheering on the Junior Hockey teams. Although each of his nieces and nephews was important to Ed, he had a special place in his heart for his Godchildren, Patricia, Danny, Carol, and Corey. Over the years he treasured the standing phone visits with nephews Doug and Ron. Ed was the honorary ‘fun’ parent to his siblings’ and close friends’ children. He would go the extra mile for them, making special trips out when the snow was just right to help make snowmen, or to take them and their friends to hockey games. Many were gifted his treasured folded $2 or $5 bills. If you were very, very lucky, you may even see a specially folded $20! He always had pop, Wagon Wheels, and Coffee Crisp in his truck for any hungry kid or adult that asked for one. Ed would give you all the time in the world if you needed to chat, he was always ready to lend an ear and a theory he read in the National Enquirer. The family would like to thank the staff at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson, SK, where Ed lived the past few months of his life. The Funeral Mass was offered at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Francis Akomeah. The eulogy was delivered by Marie ven der Buhs, and the urn bearer was Corey Murray. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who knew and loved Ed and shared in his life”. Interment followed at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to slfc@sasktel.net. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Ed’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (#26 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9), or to the Canadian Cancer Society (#2 – 630 45th St. W., Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5W9).
