Elvera “Si” Irene Work
December 8, 1926 – March 24, 2023

The death of Elvera “Si” Irene (née Seibel) Work of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK (and formerly of LeRoy, SK) occurred at her residence on Friday, March 24, 2023. She was 96 years of age. Elvera was born on December 8, 1926, to John and Eda (née Miller) Seibel in the Zehner district of Saskatchewan. She began her education at Braemore School in Zehner and continued at Albert School and Scott Collegiate in Regina. Elvera then studied nursing at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina and graduated as a registered nurse in 1948. Her first posting was in LeRoy where she met John Work. They were married on August 17, 1948, in Wilke, SK. Elvera will be lovingly remembered by five children and 15 grandchildren: William “Bill” Work (Dina) and family, Tammy, Sasha, and Colin; David Work (Bonnie) and family, Jennifer, Dustin, and Sarah; Barbara Abel (Rob) and family, Melanie, Jeff, and Pam; James Work and family, Cody, Mykayla, and Brandon; and Brenda Huegle and family, Jessica, Dallas, and Alethea; her sister Margaret Scott; and by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Work; son, Rob Work; daughter-in-law, Veronika Work; brother-in-law, Maxwell Scott; parents, John and Eda “Emma” (née Miller) Seibel; three brothers and one sister: Harold (Flo) Seibel, Albert (Frances) (Evelyn) Seibel, Walter (Lois) Seibel, and Adeline Allan (Bill) (Bruce). The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., presided by Janice Dobmeier. Others taking part were: Jennifer Gierl and Sasha Chychul, scripture readers, and Rob Abel, eulogist. Honorary pallbearers were, “All those who shared in Si’s life.” Active pallbearers were: Dustin Work, Jeff Abel, Colin Work, Case Gierl, Dallas Work, and Jon Work. Interment followed at LeRoy Public Cemetery, LeRoy, SK, and the memorial luncheon was held at the Bella Vista Inn in Humboldt.
