Ernie Hrynuik
February 16, 1944 – May 20, 2024

The peaceful passing of Ernie Hrynuik, of Humboldt occurred on May 20th, 2024, at the Humboldt District Hospital, with his loving wife Dolores at his side. Ernie was born on February 16, 1944, to parents John and Mary Hrynuik. He grew up on a farm near Leross SK. Ernie attend school in Leross and Kelliher. After he completed school, he worked for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways until 1975, when he and Dolores moved back to the farm to raise their three children. In 2013 they moved to Humboldt where they found their new home and have made many great friends and neighbors. Ernie’s favorite times were when he was fishing, camping and hunting. He always enjoyed spending time on the water, even when the fish weren’t biting. He and Dolores spent many years attending old time dancing, Polkafests and travelling to Las Vegas to dance and listen to some of his favorite bands. Ernie treasured his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. They were one of his biggest joys, he loved being a Gido and Grandpa. He always had time to tease them about eating pork and beans, chase them around, and even jumping on the trampoline. Ernie will be lovingly remembered by: his wife Dolores; children: Brett (Michelle), Angela (Adriann) and Crystal (Riley); grandchildren: Chanel (Bryce), Taryn, Austin, Elizabeth, Linnea and Emric; sisters: Pauline Lees, Helen Gawden, and Iris (Bill) Perrin; sisters-in-law: Arlene Daw, and Marilyn (Wayne) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom had a special place in his heart. Ernie was predeceased by: his parents John and Mary; brother Bill; parents in law Mickey and Charlie Daw; and brothers-in-law: Lawrence Daw and Fred Lees. Special thank you to staff of Humboldt Hospital for their kindness and compassion while taking care of Ernie. The memorial service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, Saskatchewan on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.. A reflection of Ernie’s life was given by Crystal Morris and Joanne Biehl. Urnbearers were Chanel Deady, Taryn Deady, Austin Ekstrom, Elizabeth Ekstrom, Linnea Morris, and Emric Morris. Following the service a memorial luncheon was held at The Gathering Place, Humboldt, SK. Memorial donations may be directed to Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (P.O.
