This year, Pi Day, usually marked on March 14 for its 3.14 affiliation, gets an extended celebration. Saturday, March 18, the Westminster United Church Affirm Team hosts its fourth annual Pi Day. The evening gathering is a celebration of the LGBTQ2S community and supporters. It’s an event for all to feel welcome and included during a musical and performance filled evening, that includes pie of course.

Allison Sarauer with the Affirm Team talks about the upcoming event.

“Affirm United is an organization that stands alongside the United Church. It's a celebration of diversity and inclusion. We’ll have entertainers there - singers, piano and other instruments, some readings. We’ll enjoy each other’s company and talk about full inclusion.”

It’s part of the United Church’s mandate to see that no one is excluded from worship.

“It’s about educating ourselves, learning the language, and not making assumptions. It affirms that everyone deserves love and a place to worship.”

Anyone is welcome to attend the event happening at 7 pm at the Westminster United Church in Humboldt. Admission is by donation; those unable to donate are welcomed.
