Gertrude Henrietta Reineke
June 11, 1935 – October 22, 2021

Gertrude “Gertie” Henrietta (nee Engelmann) Reineke passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was 86 years of age. Gertie was born to Henry and Marie (nee Castner) Engelmann at home on their farm in the Maidstone district on Tuesday, June 11, 1935. On November 2, 1953, Gertie married Forbes Arnott. Five daughters were born to them. Forbes passed away in February 1981. Gertie met Ted Reineke and they later moved to Lloydminster where they married on August 13, 1977. Gertie became stepmother to Ted’s two sons and one daughter. In the spring of 1986, Gertie and Ted moved back to Humboldt. Ted passed away on September 17, 2007. Gertie continued to reside in Humboldt until October 12, 2019, when she became a resident of Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan, SK, until her passing. Gertie is lovingly remembered by her five daughters and their families: TRUDY Menzel (Murray Freistadt), Devin Menzel and daughter Valen Menzel, step-granddaughter Kyra Harder, Shannon Menzel and her son Garrett Chestnut, step-grandchildren Amanda Freistadt, Natasha (Calvin Rhead) and son Jorden, Joshua Freistadt (Lindsay), Hailey and Thomas, and Ché Freistadt; BARBARA (Dave) Balasiak; CATHERINE (Raymond) Barré, Charmaine (Grant) Peters and son Ayden, Colin (Genevieve) and daughters Elizabeth and Scarlet, and Rachel (Jason) Stach and daughter Samantha; COLLEEN (Daryl) Mack, Graham (Heather), Ethan, Rohan and Samuel; and SHIRLEY Arnott (Dave Milne), Sidney (Sean) Crowe, McKinnley and Blakely, and Doug Milne (Chad Pitura); two stepchildren and their families: DAVID (Gina) Reineke, Amanda and her children Jordyn and Parker, Justin, and Megan; and GERARD (Connie) Reineke, Nicole and Christopher. She is also survived by one sister, Freida (Bill) Sverdahl; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Gertie was predeceased by her first husband, Forbes Arnott; second husband, Ted Reineke; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; one stepdaughter; parents, Henry and Marie (nee Castner) Engelmann; two sisters, Dorothy (Nick) Taschuk, and Loretta (Fred) Norquist; one nephew; one niece; and many other family members. The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK, on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., presided by Brenda Curtis. A poem was read by Murray Freistadt. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Gertie’s life”. Interment followed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carmel, SK.
