Gordon Emil Lux
January 20, 1943 – May 12, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Lux announces his peaceful passing on May 12, 2023, at 80 years of age. Gordon was born January 20, 1943, in Humboldt, SK, to Peter and Hilda (née Kalthoff) Lux and was the fourth child out of nine in the family. He married Margaret Hiebert in July 1966, and they resided on the family farm where they raised three children: Kim, Coleen, and Colette. Gordon had a passion for farming. Each year he looked forward to planting his crop and harvesting the bounty, which he did for over 30 years. He loved to crop check often and was always aware of the progress and stages of it. Gordon was also an inventor - improving his farm machinery and various other equipment with his brothers, which kept him busy during the winter months. He also liked to play Kaiser with friends and neighbors, usually throwing in a bit (or a lot) of table talk, a hearty laugh, and a fist thump on the table to show the best last card to all the players. Gordon and Margaret enjoyed camping in their early years, discovering many local parks with their children, friends and family. After retiring from the farm, Gordon and Margaret loved taking many trips on bus tours, taking their camper as part of The Good Sam’s Club, as well as winter stays in Yuma, Arizona. Gordon was an active church member, serving as an usher for many years. He loved to help others, such as the Maritian families moving to Humboldt to start a new life. He was happy to know he could help others in some way or another and his generosity was shared with many. He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Margaret; his son, Kim Lux and family: Logan, Zoé and Ryan; his daughter, Coleen (Wayne) Bowman, and family: Sheldon (Noël Wilk), Kaitlyn, Chantelle and Dylan; daughter, Colette (Doug) Gerow and family: Danielle (Sean) and their children, Emmitt and Isaac, Robyn (Zachary Hunter), and Darcy (Destiny Isbister); his siblings: Eileen Hiebert, Dianna (Ken) Poss, Fern Huslage, Norman Lux, Linda Kunz, and Glen (Maureen) Lux; and his in-laws: Jean Lux, Ruth Hiebert, Ray Hiebert, Harold Hiebert, and Loretta (Randy) Dobmeier. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Hilda; his brothers: Donald and Leon; his brothers-in-law: Leonard Hiebert, Harvey Kunz, Richard Huslage, and Tony Hiebert; and his in-laws: Sheila Lux, Linda Lux, Bernadette and Richard Forer, and Marie Hiebert. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Others taking part were: Darcy Gerow, cross bearer; Kaitlyn Bowman, Danielle Weisbrod and Robyn Gerow, scripture readers; Chantelle Bowman, prayers of the faithful; Sheldon and Dylan Bowman, gift bearers; and Vince and Maria Leonard, memorial table attendants.
