This year marks 50 years of Mohawks football, and what better way to celebrate than a night game. Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18, is HCI’s Alumni Football Weekend.

“There’s been over 900 players in the 50 years suit up for this team, so it’s been a long-standing tradition. It’s been a staple of the community for 50 years,” says former player and alumnus Brian Grest.

Friday, September 17, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm is the pre-game barbeque with the funds going towards the team alongside a 50/50 draw.

The kickoff for the game will take place at 7:30 pm where the Mohawks will face Delisle. Sponsors are bringing portable lights to illuminate the field so everyone can enjoy the night game. There is no admission fee, so everyone is welcome to come and watch the game.

“It is an outdoor event, which is significant because the safety factor is a little bit more safe when you’re outside,” says Grest. “We are hoping that people do show up for this outdoor event and help support the team.”

At half-time, there will be a 15-minute acknowledgement of the 50 years of Mohawks football. Any former players who attend the game will be requested to take the field and be acknowledged, and those who still have their football jackets are asked to bring them to the game.

Following the game, there will be a social gathering for the alumni at the Bella Vista Inn.

Saturday, September 18 from 8:30 am - 10:00 am breakfast will be served at the BV for $10. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the football team. Everyone is welcome to come out and support the team.

After the breakfast, any alumni wanting to tour the current facilities are welcome to do so at 10:15 am at HCI.
