Brunalda “Hilda” Simmer
March 10, 1931 – March 27, 2022

The passing of Brunalda “Hilda” (née Schedlosky) Simmer of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, occurred at her residence on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was 91 years of age. Hilda was born on March 10, 1931, to Alex and Minnie (née Kabelsky) Schedlosky at home on the family farm in the Burr district, southwest of Humboldt. She attended Manor Park School in the area, then St. Ursula’s Academy in Bruno, SK, and Humboldt Collegiate Institute in Humboldt. Hilda continued her education at Teacher’s College in Saskatoon, SK, and taught in the area. In her early 40’s she upgraded her education through St. Peter’s College in Muenster, SK, by going to summer school as well as taking night classes. In 1953 she married Raymond Stolz. He died in a tractor accident about a year later. Several months later, daughter Patricia arrived. On December 29, 1956, Hilda married Bill Simmer from Englefeld. Three more children were added to the family. In 1960, the family moved to Humboldt and Bill continued farming from town. Hilda enjoyed quilting, playing cards, camping, and traveling. She loved the R.V. life. She and Bill toured many parts of Canada, and the United States, including Alaska. They escaped the cold winter months by going to Apache Junction, AZ. Other tours took them to Europe, New Zealand, Australia, plus a Panama Canal cruise. Hilda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill Simmer of Humboldt, four daughters, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren: Patricia (Leo) (née Stolz) Niekamp and family, Evan (Erin) Niekamp and their children Jake Niekamp and Julie Niekamp, RaeAnn Niekamp, and Alyssa (Kyle) Linzmeyer and their daughters Kathryn Linzmeyer and Lilly Linzmeyer, all of Saskatoon, SK; Jenette Simmer of Saskatoon; Sharon (Dana) Stuckel of Big River, SK, and their children Dane Stuckel of Mountain View, CA, and Mallory Stuckel of Ucluelet, BC; and Elaine Simmer of Calgary, AB, and family, Todd (Rayanne) Simmer and their children Kain Simmer, William Simmer, Taya Simmer, Mya Simmer, Keela Simmer, and Simon Simmer of Cochrane, AB, Kelsey Atkin of Cochrane, AB, and Richelle Atkin of Vancouver, BC. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ben Lohmann; sister, Frances Doyscher of Chilliwack, BC; brother-in-law, Raymond (Brenda) Simmer of Saskatoon, SK; two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Turner of Regina, SK, and Irene Saunders of Hamilton, ON; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Stolz; parents, Alex and Minnie (née Kabelsky) Schedlosky; sister, Lorraine Loehr; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lohmann; and by five brothers-in-law: Eugene Loehr, Ralph Doyscher, Dave Turner, Doug Saunders, and Arnold (Verna) Stolz. The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Nestor Trach. Others taking part were: Audrey Brockman and RaeAnn Niekamp, scripture readers; Henry Kloppenburg, eulogist; Erin Niekamp, intentions; and Evan Niekamp, urn bearer. Interment will take place at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Humboldt, at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation St. Elizabeth’s Ladies Auxiliary Centennial Cardiac Endowment Fund (P.O.
