A school supply drive is now on in Humboldt to benefit the children of Humboldt schools, hosted by Hope in Hardship Ministry through the Humboldt Alliance Church.
The drive runs from August 25 - September 1 and accepts any new or unopened school supplies.
"We are looking for basically anything that people have, either in their collection from their kids from years past or if they are wanting to go to the stores in town here," said Riki Lucas, founder of the Hope in Hardship Ministry. "We have two stores that are supporting this, Fields being one of them, and the Dollar Store being the other one. They have boxes in their businesses that as people are shopping, the goal would be to purchase an extra binder, pencil case, package of loose leaf for the kids."
Donations can be delivered to Humboldt Alliance Church Tuesday - Friday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, contacting Riki Lucas at 1-306-231-9352 or emailing hopeinhardshiphac@gmail.com
Lucas says the Ministry was created to help those in need in Humboldt, " The need for school supply support for individuals throughout Humboldt is often overlooked. There are lots of people who are needing help, so that's what Hope and Hardship was designed and originated from, is the response to the call for help."
“Our ministry was created in response to the Parkland condominium fire back in June, where we collected, organized, and distributed household donations from the community to help the residents of the condo. We have been working alongside Partners Family Services and have received an amazing response from the community with regard to answering the call to help."
