The Humboldt and District Gallery is bringing back a popular new program for local painters for the second year. Come Paint with Us! Is a program at the Gallery that combines free-style painting with introductory sessions for some fundamental painting techniques.

The program is set to take place on four consecutive Thursday nights: September 21, September 28, October 5, and October 12 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Each session begins with a 30-minute workshop/presentation to help teach new skills:

  • September 21: Canvas Prep and Intro to Brushes with Laura Kneeshaw
  • September 28: Introduction Composition with Lorraine Jansen
  • October 5: Simple Silhouettes with Wayne Schidlowsky
  • October 12: Colour Theory with Kayla Hanson

After the workshop, participants will work on their chosen project, with the help of Painters Lorraine Jansen, Laura Kneeshaw, Kayla Hanson, Wayne Schidlowsky, and Zyg Kondzielewski who will act as mentors to the participants, helping them hone their techniques and achieve their painting goals.

The Gallery recommends this event for everyone from seasoned painters looking for a spark of inspiration, to beginners trying to find the perfect gateway into the medium.

“Feel free to bring either a project that you have already begun or a totally blank canvas. If you are unsure where to start, bring a copy of a favourite photograph to recreate. The Gallery will provide paint and brushes,” said the Gallery in a release.

Rates for members are $12 per session or $40 for all four. Rates for non-members are $15 per session or $50 for all four. Each session runs from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
