Humboldt Special Olympics Broncos are back on the floor hockey circuit after an extended absence from competition, and they wasted no time in earning another trophy. The team captured top honours at the 8-team 2023 SOS Floor Hockey Championships, presented by Canadian Tire in Prince Albert this weekend.

On hand for the action along with the Broncos were the Regina Raptors, Regina Vipers, Saskatoon Stingers, Lakeland Hawks, Lakeland Wolf Pack, Moose Jaw Cobras, and Swift Current Broncos.

On Saturday, the team opened the tournament strong with a pair of victories, a close 5-4 challenge, followed in the afternoon by a confident 10-6 win. Then it was off to the gold medal match up on Sunday. Sunday’s game saw the Broncos behind in the early going, but the never quit attitude kept them in it and allowed them to tie the game sending it to overtime. In a thrilling overtime matchup, Bronco Dwayne Anderson put the puck away to give the Humboldt and District SO team the win.

Great to see the Humboldt and District SO  Floor Hockey team back on the boards for another season.
