Ida Marie Rasmussen Yakimenko (née Vossen)
March 1, 1937 – April 22, 2022

The family of Ida Yakimenko is sad to announce her passing on Friday, April 22, 2022. She was 85 years of age. Born on March 1, 1937, Ida was the 8th of 11 children born to Fred and Anna (née Wessling) Vossen. She grew up on the Vossen homestead northeast of Watson, SK, and attended both Iron Springs School and Sacred Heart Separate School. She married Keld Rasmussen in August of 1954 and the couple made their home in Watson where they raised five children. Keld passed away in 1984 and Ida remained in Watson. She married Roger Yakimenko in October of 1988. They spent lots of time at their tiny cabin at Revoy’s Marina on Barrier Lake and gardening in their beautiful yard in Watson. In July of 2014, Roger passed away and Ida continued living in her own house until her passing. Throughout her life, she was active in Sacred Heart Parish and the local CWL. In recent years, she enjoyed volunteering at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge. Weekly yoga sessions and coffee with friends were the highlights of her days. Visiting family was a joy for Ida, especially with her grandchildren and going for ice-cream was a must! She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children: Jane Martin, Dino (Rhonda) Rasmussen, Becky (John) Tremblay, Dori (Neil) Nordick, and Jodi (Trevor) Rasmussen-Witte; grandchildren: Tera, Nicki (Dave), Curtis, Heather (Ryan), Tennille, Ramsay (Jessica), Justin, Kassia, Chase, and Kameron; and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ryder, Sophia, Beckham, Austin, Jacob, Rhylan, Reed, Rhielle, Luke, and Lincoln; Roger’s children and grandchildren; her siblings: Clarence Vossen, Frieda (Ron) Beallie, Mary Seier, Gladys Zerr, and Hilda (George) Dirksen; and sister-in-law Liz Vossen. She is predeceased by her husbands Keld Rasmussen, and Roger Yakimenko; siblings: Ella (Peter) Thacyk, Louise (Eric) Gorray, Oscar (Lillian) Vossen, Martin Vossen, and Leo in infancy; and by her in-laws: Frank Zerr, Delphine Vossen, and Gary Seier. The Funeral Mass was offered for Ida on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Watson, SK, with celebrant Fr. Francis Akomeah. Others taking part were: Kassia Nordick, cross bearer; Tera Masi and Nicki Martin, scripture readers; Tennille Tremblay, Reed Stire, and Rhielle Stire, intentions; Heather Carroll and Beckham, Austin and Jacob, and Jessica Tremblay and Luke and Lincoln, gift bearers. Music ministry was led by Laurie Sproule and the Sacred Heart Parish Choir, with soloists Dori Nordick and Kameron Witte. Active pallbearers were Curtis Rasmussen, Chase Nordick, Ramsay Tremblay, Rhylan Tremblay, Justin Nordick, and Ryan Carroll, and “All those who shared in Ida’s life,” were noted as honorary pallbearers. Memorial table attendants were Jennifer Boyce, Debbie Parker, and Michael Brost, and the Sacred Heart Parish CWL provided an honor guard. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish Building Fund, (PO Box 189, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0), Quill Plains Health Care Foundation Inc., (PO Box 277, Watson, SK, S0K 2A0), or to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care, (PO Box 1740, Humboldt, SK, S0K 2A0).
