Irene Rosa Crozon (née Altice)
March 5, 1931 – May 6, 2022

The family of Irene Crozon is sad to announce her passing on Friday, May 6, 2022, at her residence in Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, Saskatchewan. She was 91 years of age. Irene was born to Lawrence and Blanche (née Bodi) Altice on March 5, 1931, on the family farm in the Lac Vert District, SK. She grew up there, attended Roanoke Country School, and worked on local farms. As a young adult, she served as a dedicated Nurse’s Aide at the Prince Albert Tuberculosis Sanitorium for a number of years. Later she worked at Joe Perrot’s farm, and it was there that she met Leon Crozon. They were married on August 15, 1955, and made their home in Regina, SK, where they raised five children. In 1976 they moved back to Naicam and Leon joined his brothers in farming. Irene was a dedicated homemaker, and she was widowed in 1982. After Leon’s death, Irene lived her life for her children and her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and helped in any way she could. Making everyone a homecooked family meal, was a pleasure for Irene, and of course, spoiling her grandchildren in the process was a double blessing. One of her ways to relax was to take walks, often with friends, and to get outside and appreciate nature. Going for a drive in the car to spot wildlife was another pastime. It was a great day when she could find deer, elk, or moose, or even a fox, and she would let everyone know later over coffee. Until 2008, Irene continued to live in her own home, and she then retired to Humboldt, SK. In 2016, she returned to Naicam, and lived in Churchview Lodge. Over a period of several months, some time was spent at Cudworth and Wadena, and a final residence was taken at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson, SK (April 4, 2018) which was her home until the present. Irene is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren: FR. LORNE Crozon, of Regina, SK; WAYNE Crozon of Humboldt, SK, and family: Corey Crozon, Becky (John) Ell, Annagail, Alexis and Alayna, and Matthew (Kimberly) Crozon; KATHY Crozon of Watson, SK; WANDA (Brad) Lefebvre of Humboldt, SK, and family: Nathan (Stephanie) Lefebvre, and Landon (Hannah) Lefebvre and L.J.; and DARLA (Harvey) Christianson of Naicam, SK and family: Troy (Megan) Christianson and Caspian, Lisa (Jordan) Lee and Everett, and Jake (Kaylee) Christianson, Liam and Carter; two sisters-in-law Agnes Coquet of St. Brieux, SK, and Marlyn Crozon of Oakville, ON; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband Leon Crozon (February 1982); her daughter-in-law Gail Crozon; her parents Lawrence and Blanche (née Bodi) Altice; all her siblings: James, George, Fred, Roy, Iris, Helen, Vivian, Lila, and Ruth; and by numerous in-laws of the Crozon family. She was the last of her generation of the Altice Family. Blessed be her memory, and may she rest in peace. The Funeral Mass was offered for Irene on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Naicam, SK, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Charles Nweze. Others taking part were: John Ell, cross bearer; Becky Ell and Lisa Christianson, scripture readers; Stephanie Lefebvre, intentions; Annagail, Alexis and Alayna Ell, gift bearers; Adele Binsfeld and Theresa Medernach, memorial table attendants. Music ministry was led by organist Donna Becker and members of St. George’s Parish Choir. Active pallbearers were: Corey Crozon, Troy Christianson, Nathan Lefebvre, Matthew Crozon, Jake Christianson, and Landon Lefebvre, and “All those who shared in Irene’s life,” were noted as honorary pallbearers. The memorial luncheon followed in St. George’s Parish Hall, and the interment will take place, at a later date, in St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Naicam, SK. Memorial donations may be directed either to the Quill Plains Health Care Foundation (PO Box 277, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0), or to Kinsmen Telemiracle (2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6A8).
