Hannah Mulhern, an HCI graduate, just received the Tyler Bieber Memorial Scholarship from the Western Academy Broadcasting College (WABC).

Mulhern explained the scholarship to Bolt FM’s morning show host, Calum McAnally.

“The Tyler Bieber scholarship is the scholarship that WABC put together after the accident. It’s $1000 towards your  tuition at the school, and there are two people awarded it. I was one of them, so between that and the other scholarships I got through High School, it covers one portion of my tuition.”

Mulhern says she’s honoured to receive the scholarship.

“It’s very special, obviously, as being from Humboldt and knowing Tyler and getting to see him work around the community. I also got the Brody Hinz award this year, so it’s very special being awarded both because they are very important people to me.”

The Brody Hinz award goes towards character achievements, explained Mulhern.

“The Brody Hinz award was the memorial award in my high school for character achievements. There was two senior awards and two junior awards, and I was one of the seniors.”

Mulhern plans on pursuing a career in sports broadcasting upon completing college.
