An alert was issued by the Melfort RCMP at 11:40 Tuesday morning warning people in the area of James Creek First Nation to seek shelter immediately, or shelter in place, following reports of a possible sighting of Myles Sanderson.
Sanderson is one of two suspects behind multiple fatal stabbings, along with his now-deceased brother Damien.
The alert gave the following instructions:
If in the area, seek immediate shelter/shelter in place. Use caution allowing others into your residence. Do not leave a secure location. DO NOT APPROACH suspicious persons. Do not pick up hitch hikers. Report suspicious persons, emergencies or info to 9-1-1. Do not disclose police locations.
Damien's death brought the number of fatalities to 11, as of an update Monday afternoon. The number of injuries then was 19.
