Jean Elizabeth Craddock (nee Alcorn)
July 28, 1948 - September 19, 2021

Aged 73 years

Jeanne Craddock (nee Alcorn) passed away peacefully, on September 19, 2021, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan following an 11-year battle with cardiomyopathy.

Jeanne was born in Saskatoon and grew up in Asquith. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees and enjoyed a 30+ year teaching career in Saskatoon, Swift Current and Humboldt. She especially enjoyed sharing children’s literature as a teacher librarian and cherished her years as a kindergarten teacher.

Jeanne enjoyed being involved in her children’s activities, the longest dedication was as a 20-year hockey mom. Summer meant family time travelling in their camper van, with boat attached, to various parts of Canada, their favorite being Okanagan. The annual Christmas ski trip to Banff was a highlight although she was soon left behind on the hill.

Through activities such as Book Club, United Church, gardening, and ESL volunteering she developed many friendships. She was a voracious reader and loved selecting beautiful books to read to her grandchildren.

She enjoyed travelling and visiting different destinations. Banff was always a special location beginning with a summer job more than 50 years ago to annual visits through this past June. She loved Great Britain, especially Scotland, the country of her ancestors. Visiting her daughter in Dubai was a wonderful adventure. Recently, Victoria had become a winter escape.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 50 years Richard Craddock, and their three children and seven grandchildren: Rod (Kate) and children Ashton and Connor, Megan (Alek) and children Petra and Luka, Pat (Jen) and children Owen, Blake and Maeve, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Michelle) Alcorn of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents William and Edna (Roy) Alcorn.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Stars Ambulance or the Westminster United Church Humboldt.

Jeanne would also to thank all her dedicated medical workers including Dr. W. Huber, Dr. C. Pearce, Dr. C. Stuglin, Val Pottle, social worker, and countless nurses, home care staff and cardiac device technicians.

A Funeral Service for Jeanne was held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster United Church, officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Memorial Donations in Jeanne’s memory may be directed to the STARS Foundation or Westminster United Church.
