Jeannine Marie Koenig (née Lefebvre)
October 29, 1933 – July 18, 2022

It is with sadness and thanksgiving for a life well lived that the family of Jeannine Koenig announces her passing on Monday, July 18, 2022, at her residence in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. She was 88 years of age. Jeannine was born in St. Front, SK, to Gustave and Marie Lefebvre (née Moisan) October 29, 1933. She took all her schooling in Englefeld, SK, except for Grades 7 and 8 in Prud’homme, SK, and she graduated in 1952. Jeannine worked for SaskTel as a telephone operator in Humboldt for five years. On July 9, 1957, she married Anthony Koenig and they lived and raised their family that grew to include three children, on the Koenig farm near Englefeld. Always full of joy, Jeannine loved to sing and dance, and take time to visit with family, friends, and neighbours. Gardening was a passion, and she enjoyed crocheting and collecting antique dishes. In 1993 the homestead passed to their son Murray, and Jeannine moved with Anthony to Humboldt. They joined St. Augustine’s Parish, and Jeannine was active in the CWL (60 years). When Anthony passed away (May 2, 2000), she continued to live in her own home until the present. Jeannine will be fondly and deeply missed by her three children and their families: Laurie (Danny) Breker, and Amy (Brent) Friesen, Drew and Cole, Erin (Louis) Wolff, Sawyer and Rachel, Ian Breker (Steph), and Shawna (Braeden) Meyers, Blake and Rylan; Murray (Carrie) Koenig, and Christie and Shelby; and Chris Koenig, and Raven and Elizabeth; sister Pauline Reinelt of Saskatoon, SK; brothers: Lee Lefebvre of Humboldt, and Gabe (Les) Lefebvre, Dan Lefebvre, and Manny (Cindy) Lefebvre all of Englefeld; and sister-in-law Mary Schmitz-Lefebvre of Humboldt. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, of 42 years, Anthony; parents Gustave and Marie Lefebvre (née Moisan); siblings Aline Lefebvre and Marcel Lefebvre; in-laws: Violet Lefebvre, Shirley Lefebvre, Carl Reinelt, and Marlene Lefebvre; and nephews Barry Lefebvre, and Stuart Lefebvre. A Prayer Service and the Funeral Mass for Jeannine were both offered in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, in Englefeld, Saskatchewan. The Prayer Service was held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 7:30 p.m., presided over by Audrey Zimmerman, with scripture reader Shawna Meyers, and a eulogy offered by Danny Breker. On Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., Fr. Francis Akomeah celebrated the Funeral Mass. Others taking part were: Shelby Koenig, cross bearer; Mark Cabingan and Lorenz Cabingan, altar servers; Amy Friesen and Erin Wolff, scripture readers; Chris Koenig, intentions; Carrie Koenig and Gail Wittig, gift bearers; and Wanda Lefebvre, Ivy McGrath, and Gail Wittig, memorial table attendants.
