Karen Helen Jenkins
April 23, 1953 – May 12, 2023

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Karen Helen (nee Gibb) Jenkins 70 years, of Humboldt on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Royal University Hospital Saskatoon. Karen was born in Humboldt and lived on a farm near Bruno for the first 11 years of her life. Then moved to Saskatoon where she completed grade 12 at Holy Cross in Saskatoon. Following her completion of grade 12 Karen entered the Certified Nursing Assistant class at Kelsey. She then came back to Humboldt to do her practicum. Out socializing with friends one night she met the love of her life, Garry Jenkins and the rest is history. They were wed on July 6, 1973 in Saskatoon. Soon after they returned to Humboldt where they began their family of three: Brad, Kelly and Beth. They kept her busy and she never missed an opportunity to be at the hockey games. Unfortunately, Brad passed away in 1997 which was very heart breaking for their family. Karen continued to work at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital as a LPN and also in the scheduling department until 2013 when she retired. Her family was always her focus throughout her life. Karen felt very blessed to have her children and grandchildren living close to her. She was very supportive of all their activities and sports, Karen especially enjoyed hockey games. Quality one on one time happened in her kitchen baking with them. Karen enjoyed the art of stain glass work, where she made many beautiful pieces to share with family and friends. She also volunteered at the Food Bank in Humboldt. They spent many winters on the Island, but once the grandchildren started to arrive, they became priority and Karen stayed close to home to be present when needed. As a family they also enjoyed a very memorable Christmas vacation in Mexico. Karen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years Garry Jenkins; two children and five grandchildren: Kelly (Kate) Jenkins and children Ethan and Cohen and Beth (Shawn) Gebauer and children Alexis, Jase and Dane all of Humboldt; and by many good friends. Karen was predeceased by their son Brad (1997) and father, Bill Gibb (1978). As per Karen’s wishes there will not be a funeral service. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Augustine Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations in Karen’s memory may be directed to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (General Equipment Fund).
