Parents looking for a great way to immerse their kids in outdoor activities should consider pre-registering them for Ducks Unlimited and Humboldt Wildlife Federations' "Green Wing Day," on Tuesday.

Starting at 12:15pm and running till 7:00pm kids ages 6-12 will get to partake in a variety of ourdoor experiences, followed by a BBQ and prize giveaways.

Dave Atamanchuk with Ducks Unlimited says he thinks kids will get alot out of the experience.

"You know I think the main thing is to get the kids outside, to enjoy the outdoors, to see there's a lot of things you can do out there and to teach them and get them to appreciate conservation in general."

Atamanchuk talks about some of the activities taking place.

"Air-Boat rides, critter dipping, building bird boxes, the .22 pellet gun, and we have a special little archery range coming in for the little ones and the Fire Department is coming out with all of their equipment to do a demonstration. They're all a lot of fun because they are so different and the kids have never done a lot of this stuff before."

He hopes kids from both the city and farm attend.

"We want everybody there, from city kids to rural kids. We don't just want city kids out there, we want everyone to enjoy it, cause even farm kids nowadays don't get to do some of the stuff we get to do out there."

Green Wing Day will take place at the Wildlife Federation building, south of the landfill.

Registration for the event is $25.

Pre-registration is encouraged, you can do that by calling Cindy at 682-0993.

Atamanchuk mentioned they are still short on a few volunteers, to help out call Dave at 231-8559. If you are volunteering there will be an orientation meeting at 11:30.
