Larry Peter Hermann
February 25, 1943 – May 21, 2024

It is with great sadness the family of Larry Peter Hermann of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully in the presence of Bernadette, his daughter Vicki and his brother Alphonse on May 21, 2024. He was 81 years of age. Larry was born on February 25, 1943, to Constantine and Ethel (née Streitenberger) Hermann in Bruno, SK. He was the nineth of twelve children and told many “once upon a time when I was a boy “stories about the fun and mischief he, Gerry, Alphonse and Annabelle had when they were young. His high school years were spent in Bruno, then two years at St. Peter’s College, Muenster, SK and then graduated from Humboldt Collegiate. He garnered the nickname ‘Razor’ for his sharp hairstyle and witty personality. After working several years, he went back to school and received his Bachelor of Education Degree from the U of S and his Bachelor of Arts Degree a few years later. He taught for four years in Cudworth, SK, and then another two years in Trail, BC, where he also took great pride working as an Auxiliary Police Officer. After 24 years, he finished his teaching career at L.P. Miller Comprehensive High School in Nipawin, SK. Larry and Bernadette moved to Saskatoon after retirement, where he enjoyed being closer to his brothers, sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry had the entrepreneurial spirit and valued his vending business until selling in 2019 when he fully retiring at 76 years young. He also loved playing the accordion, reading, fishing and camping. His favourite pastime was spending time in his garage, where he had many well-organized tools. He taught himself lathe woodworking and built a bandsaw from scratch and if he couldn’t find the right tool, he would make one to suit the purpose. One of Larry’s greatest passions was playing cards, he spent many hours playing Kaiser, Schmier and Poker with family and friends. Larry will be lovingly remembered by: Bernadette; daughter, Vicki (Rob) Rogers; grandchildren: Brendan and Emily; sisters: Loreen Weyland and Annabelle Oddie; brother Alphonse; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by: parents, Constantine and Ethel (née Streitenberger); sisters: Demaris Finn, Almira McKitrick, Annette Joestl, Erika Hermann, and Elaine Hermann; brothers: Albinus, Herbert, and Gerald; parents-in-law Leonard and Rose Langenhoff; sisters-in-law: Arlene (née Stauber) and Bernadette (née Ilg); and brothers-in-law: Theodore Weyland, Mickey Finn, Ron Joestl, and Bob Oddie. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, SK, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Pius Schroh. Others taking part were: Todd Hermann, crossbearer; Karen Weyland and Connie Merkosky, scripture readers; Rita Theissing, intentions; and Emily Rogers and Vicki Rogers, giftbearers. Music ministry was provided by the St. Bruno Parish Choir with Anne Moritz on the organ. Active pallbearers were Rob Rogers, Brynt Hermann, Brendan Rogers, Terry Hermann, Tyler Hermann, Gary Lemmerich and Brendan Rogers. Interment took place at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bruno SK followed by a memorial luncheon at St. Bruno Parish Basement.
