Loretta Stryjek
Nov. 27, 1933 – Oct. 26, 2021

We are sad to announce that Loretta Stryjek passed away October 26, 2021. Loretta was born on November 27, 1933 at her parents’ farm near Elstow, SK, the 12th of 14 children. She attended country school and completed high school by correspondence. In 1951 she moved to Humboldt to work as a telephone operator. There she met Michael Stryjek, and they were married in 1954. Their only daughter, Judy, was born in 1958. Michael and Loretta owned a local photography business until his passing in 1977. After Michael’s passing, Loretta worked in the parts department at Humboldt Farm Equipment until her retirement. Loretta was an active volunteer in Humboldt for many years. Some of the organizations she served were the St. Elizabeth Hospital, St. Augustine Parish, Humboldt Housing Authority, Humboldt Music Festival and Humboldt Good Neighbor Store. She took up golf in her later years and enjoyed many seasons with a large group of ladies. Her favourite pastime was bridge – she played in several local bridge clubs and travelled to tournaments across Saskatchewan. She also enjoyed travelling with friends and her daughter. In 2016 she moved to Regina to be closer to family. Loretta was predeceased by her parents Kasimir and Magdelena Schatz, her husband Michael and 11 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Brian) Harris of Regina, her brother Bruno Schatz of Allan, her sister Bunny McLean of Calgary, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. John Ezeoruonye. Donations in Loretta’s memory may be made to the Humboldt & District Hospital Foundation.
