Lorne Theodore Shout
December 3, 1942 – May 5, 2024

Lorne was born to William T.  Shout and Irene M. (Hedley) Shout on December 3, 1942, in Saskatoon, SK. He obtained his schooling in Zelma, SK and in later life obtained a degree from the University of Regina. Lorne’s entire life was dedicated to being a Purebred Angus cattle producer. It was through his love of cattle that he was able to share his passion and dedication with his sons and brother-in-law Andy. Lorne was also very much involved in the 4-H community acting as a director of the Canadian 4-H Council as well as being a 4-H Club leader. He also ensured his children were immersed in the industry.  He was a director of the Prince Albert Fair Board, and for many years served as a director on the Saskatchewan Angus Association Board. Later in life he also served as the President of the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association.

For many years he actively showed cattle with his family, attending many shows such as Agribition, Fall Fair and ensuring his children were actively involved in the Hereford Junior Shows and Canadian Youth Charolais Association. This led his life to Pleasantdale, where he found himself in the hospitality business. He operated the Pleasantdale Hotel for 27 years and enjoyed the many friendships he made. In his later years he found a passion for woodworking, making all sort of things for his grandkids such as doll cribs, barns, rocking horses, etc. Lorne retired to Melfort in December of 2022, and being that he was a very social person, he enjoyed visiting with everyone that he met.

Lorne was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Shout, and sons Greg Jones and Monty Shout.

Lorne is lovingly remembered by Diana Shout, and their children, Spencer (Danice) Shout of Center, TX, and daughter Sydney; Melissa (Craig) Yeager of Humboldt, SK, children Jorja and Kinsley; Miles (Amy) Shout of Piedmont, OK, children Madison, Maddox, and Mason; his brother-in-law Andy Jones (Corine) and his siblings Noreen (Lloyd) Johns of Zelma, SK; Richard (Sharon) Shout of Saskatoon, SK; and Eileen (Terry) Deneiko of Saskatoon, SK, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
